Caveat: Please make note that this article/post is my personal analysis of the subject and the information used was chosen or picked by me. It is not an analysis piece because it lacks complete and comprehensive research, it was not adequately and completely investigated and it is not balanced, i.e., it is my personal view without the views of others including subject experts, etc. Look at this as “Infotainment rather then expert research.” This is an opinion/editorial article/post meant to persuade the reader to think, decide and accept or reject my premise. It is an attempt to cause change or reinforce attitudes, beliefs and values as they apply in life. It is merely a commentary on the subject in the particular article presented.

Oh, and just because I wrote it and just because it sounds reasonable and just because it makes sense, does not mean it is true.)

Finally, it is incumbent that the reader take any information they feel is relevant and useful and perform an in-depth analysis of it to work out its value to the reader. It is also stressed that the reader also present the information to qualified professionals/experts so that his or her expertise and experience can also analyze the information to validate and then synthesize said information into their ideas, theories or facts/information either as is or as synthesized into something new and creative.

Symbology of Our Flag

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

It would seem that some have lost their way, they have lost the understanding of symbols and they have lost their understanding of the meaning of the American Flag. It saddens me so that such misunderstandings leave people open to denigrating the very symbol of what makes us a great, yet young, nation with a short, but honorable, heritage at an age of only two hundred and forty years or so, i.e., since 1776.
  • A strong symbol of American Identity. (Disrespect of the Flag says we have no identity)
  • A strong symbol of National Pride. (Disrespect of the Flag says we have no pride)
  • Stars symbolize the heavens and goals to which humankind aspire. (Disrespect of the Flag says we have no aspirations)
  • Stripes are symbolic of rays of light from the sun. (Disrespect of the Flag says we are living in the dark)
  • The thirteen stripes represent the original thirteen colonies who declared “independence from England.”  (Disrespect of the Flag says we have forgotten our history and heritage)
  • The fifty stars symbolize a unified fifty states of these America’s. (Disrespect of the Flag says we have forgotten our history and heritage)
  • The white colors signify purity and innocence. (Disrespect of the Flag says we are no longer of innocence and purity)
  • The red signifies valor and bravery. (Disrespect of the Flag says we no longer have people of valor and bravery)
  • The blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice. (Disrespect of the Flag says we have lost justice and no longer feel the obligation of perseverance and standing on that wall with due vigilance)
I quote original sources who said:

"The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice." - Charles Thompson, Secretary of the Continental Congress

"The star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun." - House of Representatives

“Figuratively, the flag stands for freedom and democracy. It represents the unity of America, our common cause, and the hope for a better tomorrow.” - unknown

For more, see: “I Am the Flag” A couple of quotations extracted to inspire you to read the site in its entirety.

“I am a living symbol of my nation's law: the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.”

Americans, our flag is a sacred emblem of our country. It symbolizes our birthright, our heritage of liberty purchased with blood and sorrow.”

“Our flag symbolizes our title deed of freedom, which is ours to enjoy and hold in trust for posterity. If we fail to keep this sacred trust inviolate, if it is nullified and destroyed, we and our children will become slaves to dictators and despots.”

Remember, protests derived from disrespect and dishonor do not achieve anything, it inspires discord only and it breaks us apart and down leaving us open to the very predators that we should gather together to form a solid, strong and fearsome adversary to those who would see us fall. It is a symbol of our way of life and not a personal tool toward egoistic emotionally immature self-centered personal agendas. It should be the very symbol that in our current times of strife and stress that brings us all together as “One Nation under One God” so that we may find the answers and make the changes that are inspired by and representative of the symbol that is our “American Flag!”

In the future, in lieu of knee-jerk emotional reactions without out logic, thought or understanding, I suggest one research the proposed goals and actions especially in protest to ensure that it gets the job done rather than just piss people off. We humans are pretty darn smart and we can, if we take the time and put forth the effort, find relevant, appropriate and productive ways to protest and achieve real, significant, change.
