The Aging Ceiling of our Species

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

In the article, see below link, it has come under discussion, and heated arguments, that we have a limit in the aging department. Duh (picture Homer Simpson slapping his forehead in a moment of stupidity), everyone knows that humans die at some point in their life spans, span as in born one year and die in, hopefully, a later year.

The moment a human is born they are subjected to any number and variety of stressors beginning with those imposed on them during pregnancy. Then there is the stressors of birth itself. Now, for our entire lives we are subjected to all sorts of stressors, both good and bad, that affect our bodies and minds and with the bad side all the stressors have effects on our age and our aging processes.

In a nutshell, I believe, most of those stressors are the one’s we allow to be bad but then again there are more that we have absolutely no control over such as those imposed from our environment both as to nature and to man-made.

How long we live also deals with genetics and DNA that can be extended, to a point, but often control many of our aging processes so that we have a small amount of control such as how we live, what we eat and consume and how well we work toward things like fitness and health.

Then I read the following:

Vijg’s opinion, “the real important thing is we need to put more money into drugs and interventions that really work against aging—no longer [just] against individual diseases.”

Here is where I kind of feel divided with both sides pulling me whichever way in any moment. First, I feel that drugs are beneficial in the right circumstances. Example being some drugs promote faster healing time and that means the body can take over and heel faster when if no drugs the healing process itself lengthened adds to the stress. Some drugs mean life over death so they get the beneficial mark as well.

Now, drugs for the sake of ego’s or other cosmetic, etc., types of improvements, etc., not so much because, to me, such things are artificial and although in the moment they provide what one thinks they want over time they to are stressors and detrimental to health, fitness and most of all - longevity.

In short, all this is complicated but the more natural way of health, fitness and longevity come from nature itself and the closer we can get to nature the longer our lives, natural lives. If our genes and all the stressors over the years means we die at a certain time and year - so be it and if we can naturally lengthen that - so be it and congrats to us.

Many are going to say, well then drugs and other artificial means are then ok because it has been reported they will lengthen our lives. But, I say, do they and will they? I say this because there is absolutely no proof any of it actually lengthens one’s life. There is no way to prove adequately or beyond any doubt both scientific and not that anything lengthens a life through artificial means.

As a layperson the only way I can conceive to prove it is to monitor a group of humans lives from birth to death without any artificial means or interference. Then, bring them all back to life, go back in time to when they were born to be reborn again and then expose them to the same exact things with artificial means such as drugs to see if they live longer. Add in the chaos theory because even under these circumstances things will not be exact.

What all this reminds me of is the compliance and influence disciplines where we tend to fool ourselves and fool others for self-soothing, feel good and ego building efforts to manipulate us into believing what we are predisposed to need beliefs explained through things like human bias, human dissonance and human belief-confirmation.

If I am dying and they tell me a drug or procedure will help me live, well, I am going to go for it because like all humans survival, along with procreation, is top on my list of things I wish and want and hope for in my life. If I can live just one moment longer, one minute longer, one day longer then I am all for it unless I feel, and can validate, the procedure, etc., would mean immediate death earlier than I believe my life could achieve.

Whoa, ain’t all that a mouthful!

Caveat: Yes, the source of this article is in question; yes, it needs to be fact checked and validated as far as humanly possible and all my mindless meanderings are subject to many, many things including my expertise, etc.

Television

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

I grew up with television starting with an old black and white that ran on rabbit ear antenna with snow and three channels, i.e., CBS, NBC and ABC were it. As I grew up a combination of running my neighborhood and watching television was the mainstay of personal education and entertainment. Mostly …

Bonanza, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Secret Agent and The Prisoner - to name a few favorites - are what I watched on the tele. I suspect most in my generation tended to be television addicted. There were no video games or even video’s for watching movies. If you wanted to watch movies you had to come up with the ticket fee and go to a local theater - Beach Street Theater has Saturday Movies for us youngsters back way then.

I remember going to see movies like H. G. Wells Time Machine and much later the space adventure, “2001: Space Odyssey.” I am sure anyone from my generation will recognize these films as well as many others of that era, i.e., the sixties and seventies.

Soon I joined the military and the only television was Friday nights when we all gathered in the TV room to watch, “Kung Fu,” with David Carradine. We had a lot more to do during those years in lieu of watching television but just the same it held attention on holidays and on rare weekends off in the barracks. One cool memory is every year when the annual presentation of, … wait for it …, The Wizard of Oz came on all the previous week you would hear gripes that Friday’s television would be this stupid kids movie yet when it started there was standing room only in that TV room when it began.

Lets roll forward a few decades where cable came into existence then things like Netflix and all those myriad cable channels that soon found meme’s in movies, “99 channels and NOTHING ON!” Now, we have so many sources that it is impossible for humans, at this stage of evolutionary progress, to fathom or even cognitively process it all. Of course this lead to a problem.

So many channels, so many sources and so many programs, movies and documentaries - oh my - it is impossible for any one human to possibly know what is on and what is of interest let along come up with programs and stories and drama’s that would be different, exciting and not just regurgitations of same old themes, etc. But that is exactly what has come of television.

I used to look forward to a favorite show in the evenings where we all sat around to watch, discuss, critique and philosophize about the theme of that favorite but now, it is just mind chattering flooding overwhelming reality-based drama-trauma. The only channel, and that is changing too, is the NPR educational channels that put out beneficial programs to inform, enlighten and stimulate our minds.

In short, it has become such that we, in our home, have reduced the cable to the basic and only record maybe one or two programs while the rest is left untouched and on our television only because the cable networks only provide packages rather than you select only the channels you want and the rest go into dev-null.

Now, it has divided into even more convoluted ways to stream content, of questionable value, to our televisions and other media devices. In truth, because of the saturation of such inane content I have lost interest in television except to connect to the movie section of my Apple TV box to watch movies.

Television is no longer, to me, television but a means of confusing us into purchasing piece meal content they manipulate and influence us to watch , etc., all with half the content consisting of ads to further influence us into acting and spending in a mindless manner all in the name of profit.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for making money because that is our culture and social system but it has been driven by technology to such a state that greed and need drive it way past our humanity into some form of science-fictionalized human existence without out true meaning and true value.

Sigh!

Add some tin foil around the tops of the antenna and
you will have a good vision of our TV way
back when!!!

Computer Mandate

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

The computer, it holds everything and all things data to the point that humanity switched places with the computer. In the beginning humans ruled the computer. The computer was a tool to get things done and to store important stuff. If a computer got something wrong humans made the correct assumption that some human some where made a mistake inputting the data so a concerted effort was made to find the data and make the corrections.

Then the computer was suddenly thrust into a dominant position ruling over humanity. We humans have come to depend on computers so much that we have slowly allowed our abilities rule, decide, analyze and create that we now have become dependent on computers so now, computers can do no wrong.

If one comes and says, “This is wrong,” the care-keepers of the computers simply say, “impossible, the all knowing all powerful and all wise computer makes no mistake, you must be wrong for humans are fallible and humans make mistakes.” All humans know this and we revere, trust and abide by what the computer tells us.

So, even if you are correct … because computers are infallible we the care-keepers of the computer will not, cannot not and will never say otherwise so live with it, it is your fault. Thus, the computer rules and the humans will be absorbed into the computers matrix making humans, inconsequential in the scheme of the world.

If the computer says you don’t have any money anymore in your account even if just one minute ago you had many dollars you must not have had any because the computer says you don’t have it. Try to correct the all powerful computer and you will meet obstacles, obstructions and other human traits the computer knows nothing of for the computer is all infallible.

A Double Edged Sword - Sharp on both Edges

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

In a recent article it appears we are once again skewing ourselves into a state that allows us to be lazy. What you say? Well, in a recent article (yet to be fact checked but interesting all the same if true) about American Jobs going to Americans First seems to allow us to forego working harder and gaining greater expertise over foreign folks who worked hard and gained greater expertise especially in the IT industry.

It is a bit like in older times it was advocated that we all should support the American Auto Industry by buying those American Auto’s. This because the foreign auto industry was making better auto’s and far cheaper. What I proposed then is what I propose now, “If you want me to buy American auto’s, make them better than the competition.”

So, I say now, if you want American’s to come first, especially as to jobs, then expect those Americans to work harder to earn the expertise that makes their resume more appealing than those of the foreigners.

Now, those who have an agenda and will suffer from cognizant dissonance and conformation bias will jump in as say, “You’re Un-American!” What I am saying is America First by requiring American’s to be first in everything especially their own expertise, productivity and efficiency. If we achieved that state, which requires a lot of work for everyone, then we would not need to create Presidential Orders requiring companies to reduce their expectations and requirements just to hire Americans First, we as Americans with dignity, ability and a willingness to work hard no matter what it takes and how it effects our expectations, rights and gratifications, would achieve such a high level of ability, expertise and education that all other countries would want us to come there and work, etc.

Then, maybe just maybe, all of us would stop EXPECTING to have it handed to us on a platter and get off our asses and work hard, diligently and with honor to surpass everyone and wouldn’t that actually make “America Great Again and put Americans First?”

Then again, I am a bit naive aren’t I?

Snowflake (Generation)

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

Heard this term used for the first time over the last weekend of April 1 & 2. It was given in regard to how one views today’s modern college/university students but it seems upon some checking that it spans all young adults of our modern times, i.e., I quote wikipedia, “Generation Snowflake, or Snowflake Generation, is a term used to characterize people who became adults in the 2000s and 2010s as being more prone to taking offense and less resilient than previous generations, or as being too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge their own. The term is considered derogatory.”

It adds in, “The term ‘snowflake’ has been used to refer to parents raising their children in ways that give them an inflated sense of their own uniqueness.” This seems to fit pretty good to how things seem to be in regard to current social affairs.

It is not unique to this phenomena today but was used over the last forty or so years to describe similar states of society where perceptions were such that it too was a derogatory way to describe certain attitudes and ramifications of said attitudes. The following quotes are about that history.

“This usage of ‘snowflake’ may originate from Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel Fight Club, and its 1999 film adaptation. Both the novel and the film include the line ‘You are not special. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.’ In January 2017, Palahniuk claimed credit for coining this usage of ‘snowflake’, adding ‘Every generation gets offended by different things but my friends who teach in high school tell me that their students are very easily offended.’”

You can read more HERE on the subject and how it is used to describe such socially immature lack of coping skills, etc., that have lead to the current state of affairs that is not exactly, “Positive.”

Personal Theory: What makes generation snowflake so wrong is not the lack of emotional maturity but the total lack of proper training in social coping skills. All humans have to leave the nest at one time sooner or later in life so having the social coping skills become critical because if not then becoming a snowflake is unavoidable and chips away at our very social fabric. Just sayin!

Fact Checking

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

What is wrong with the fact check and those fact checkers? They are first and foremost - human. As humans they are most often of an opinion as to how, what, when, where and why of their perceptions. This leads to a innate urge of mostly an unconscious cognizant dissonant lean toward seeing facts that are a confirmation of what they believe. In the end it makes the fact checks and checkers avoid or ignore aspects that would change their perceptions and therefore change the way the check facts. Fact checkers are supposed to be unbiased in their efforts but in today’s socially driven media tsunami it is almost impossible to do an unbiased fact check. Hey, I admit, that confirmation bias is on my plate too and I tend to focus a bit more intensely on those facts that trigger a certain feeling in me but that has to be controlled and it takes a good solid self-disciplined concerted act to overcome that bias and its related dissonance.

Fact checking is critical to all media in today’s modern socially driven emotionally charged media where logic and humanity is pushed to the back seat and having a partition of black armor closed to keep it in abeyance and out of the picture letting emotionally immature illogical biased actions, words, and deeds dominate. That ain’t right!

Sometimes to remove the bias of humans we have to actively listen to things that make us uncomfortable and that challenge our beliefs, perceptions and understanding of things. We have to actively read things as well with a mind that it take two or three complete sit down focused concentration without distractions and disruptions to begin to see between the lines. Humans jump and when they do the mind throws up obstacles and obstructions to things that would normally trigger sensory stimuli allowing us to see, feel and understand better - not a good thing especially in emotionally charged subjects, etc.

I, personally, don’t trust anything and any type of fact checking process of today. Social conditions and conditioning of our society seems to have fallen from grace and into chaos where no one has direction, no one seems to run from a moral rightness that transcends emotional immature rhetoric and we seem to have lost our patience and humility that allows us to truly actively listen to all sides of a story, debate and argument. The only social tool that we have been provided to cope with things is anger and aggression. It is inappropriate most of the time but we don’t know that anymore so we get all emotionally indignant and charge off screaming, spitting and ranting with a lot of posturing, posturing by the way that says violence is possible, and getting in one’s face spitting and spewing with a righteous attitude of “Rights” that are not truly “Rights,” until like in a recent University incident lead to violence where parties both innocent and not got hurt.

Fact checkers and their editors have all achieved expertise in compliance influence disciplines where their dissonance and bias according to personal beliefs has them creating a set of so-called facts interspersed with almost factual information and often emotionally driven inaccurate and untrue data when mixed creates the illusion of truth and fact.

In our effort to be a kinder and gentler nation of humans we have devolved into an angry, frustrated, aggressive and righteous without concern for our fellow man that has lead to the disruptive and increasingly dangerous social entity without consistent beliefs beneficial to both the individual and the social order, a socially driven anger frustrated and disjointed group of mob-like animals. What scares me most is this came about gradually over a long period of time, i.e., after WWII and Korea up to this very day, like a dripping water eroding rock slowly and inevitably until the rock is no more so to fix this will take great discipline, a concerted diligent strong effort and a span of time at least twice as long as it took us to get here. The flaw, those in control are the obstacles to success in returning to a state of humanity, brother/sisterhood of a culturally superior tribe of Americans who have faith, hope, display due diligence, dedicated and determined to fix our way of life, not to return to the past but to use that righteous path of the past to synthesize a stronger, newer and moral fortitude that says, “We are leaders of humanity and we will survive!”

My Opinion on the 2nd, just my opinion

Demolocke’s Agenda Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

I am not a constitution or bill of rights expert but I do have an opinion. Here it is:
  • The second amendment seems pretty clear and the federalist papers associated with the constitution and bill of rights provides some clarity as to the intent of the founding fathers. It is highly recommended one read them, study them, re-read them again and again under study then ask a constitution/bill of rights expert - not one but several to get a consensus of different minds with different perspectives and perceptions that are influenced by their expertise on the subject.
  • In home self-defense it all depends. It depends on your environment, i.e., home, neighborhood, community and country because along with cultural and social conditions and conditioning, not even mentioning laws and legal systems thereof, drive how we all make use of the 2nd amendment in the spirit of it and our way of life.
  • Third, owning such weapons are, in my humble opinion, are sacrosanct as to the spirit and intent of the second but I have a line I draw that governs their use, i.e., in the home - NOT to be used or are even necessary. Disparity of force comes into play here because even in the military fire power is governed by conditions spelled out by combat requirements, laws, and other factors to include levels of necessary force, etc. In a home environment such firepower is way over the top because other adequate self-defenses are available to the home owner.
Note: Such firearms while approved for ownership are necessary to protect our way of life in the event, even if rare and its probability remote, others come to our country in attempts to overthrow and take away our way of life. Consider this, if certain factions intent on destroying us and our way of life do infiltrate our country they can, could and would do so in our very communities and the 2nd is mostly, my opinion, our ability to protect self, family, community and country from such possibilities. Note that even remote to chance having the capability present and available still fulfills that amendment in my book as a deterrent, i.e., knowing we have the will, the ability and the intent to secure and defend our way of life without hesitation and with deadly ability is just that - a deterrent.
  • We already have certain requirements that must be met to meet the legal requirements in self-defense so if I own a AR-15 means nothing and adheres to the spirit and intent of the 2nd unless I use it in an inappropriate way. If the level of force it implies as dictated in self-defense, not in defense of our way of life against a foreign enemy in or out of our land, then that person failed to meet the social, legal and legal systems demand for appropriate force, etc., mandated to meet self-defense. We still need the availability of such weapons in case war comes to the domestic land we call home - it is not impossible and modern events indicates that the possibility is real.
  • Let the states, as indicated in the spirit of the constitution and bill of rights along with help from the federalist papers, do their jobs for each state and regulate not our 2nd amendment rights to keep and bear arms but rather regulate how those arms are used because like self-defense if use properly and with appropriate forces is necessary. Self-defense is drastically different from defense of nation in both foriegn and domestic realities. Govern and regulate accordingly.
You see, in my humble opinion we are misdirecting our efforts causing all this discord, disagreement and continuous argumentative and combative environment when we could actually come together to remain true to the constitution and the bill of rights in governing and mandating how we use our weapons for both self-defense and for protection of God, country and our way of life against all enemies both foreign and domestic.

Thanks for Reading, Listening to the message and Understanding the Opinion,

Charles
